The Fox Family's debut album Follow My Lead is a dynamic collection of contemporary bluegrass highlighted by Kim Fox's sharp songwriting. Kim is able to evoke the past and make it sound both timeless and modern, particularly on songs like "Blood from a Stone," "You're On Mind" and "Widow Janie," which won the songwriting award at the Merle Watson Festival. Her songs dominate the album (there's a few standards thrown in for good measure, as well), but the playing of her siblings -- from Joel's banjo fingerpicking to their flawless harmonies -- is equally breathtaking, resulting in a bluegrass debut album of rare power and beauty.
